Photographing Calshot castle

I decided to try out my new camera at Calshot Castle. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t great so the whole thing turned out rather dark.

The castle is a fairly typical Henry VIII artillery fort. On the plus side it is intact if slightly altered (although nowhere near as much as say Southsea Castle). On the downside its rather small meaning that there isn’t much to see. There is a recreation of a 1910 barracks, a display covering the seaplane activities of RAF Calshot and a 12 pounder gun on the roof. On the plus side the castle roof does provide a fairly good viewing area. On a slightly clearer day I would have been able to get a decent photo of Fawley power station and I would imagine it would be a fairly good place to photograph cruise liners from.
